High summer is almost upon us and the entire island, indeed the whole country is quite literally warming up for the arrival of large numbers of visitors over the most popular months of the year. Here’s a list of activities and events to help you make the most of your time in Crete this summer! Whether you want to plan to be at our hotel in Rethymno to soak up the atmosphere of these times, or you want to schedule your time here so as to avoid the added hustle and bustle, the choice is yours!

Soft white sand, clear warm water and beautiful views combine to make this beach one of the best in the country. It’s becoming more popular, but it somehow doesn’t feel too crowded, but rather remains a relaxed, relatively quiet place to enjoy nature, take a romantic stroll and perhaps luck out with an awe-inspiring sunset. Falassarna or Phalasarna, is an exquisite jewel on the tip of Crete’s West coast, some 120km (75 miles) west of our hotel in Rethymno.

Crete isn’t “only” a beautiful, authentic and welcoming island, it also is a windsurfer friendly island. Here all levels surfers will find a spot and area where to have fun and sensations. The most famous windsurfing spot is Palekastro in the Eastern part of Crete. However, there are also few others we will present you in this article. The Mediterranean Sea offers a great environment for various aquatic activities. It is even truer in Rethymno where you can enjoy a dive in clear water certified by a blue flag on many beaches! However, swimming is not the only fun thing to do in the sea around Rethymno. You may go for scuba diving, or chose for a less sub aquatic but as fun activity: Sailing!
